Common Cause Pledge

As a candidate, I receive numerous requests to sign pledges. My policy has been not to sign pledges. There are two reasons why I don't sign pledges.  First, I rarely fully agree with the requested pledge. Second, as time changes, few pledge requests will absolutely survive the test of time in terms of things to which I can obligate myself indefinitely.  However, the attached pledge from Common Cause struck a nerve.  Subject to the asterisk modification, I fully believe in the requested pledge and am willing to commit to it indefinitely.
